Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba – The Lac du Bonnet Community Development Corp is excited to announce that the Economic Development Officer, Cyndie Mitchell, is a finalist for the EDAM Rising Star Award. This award recognizes an individual in the early stages of their economic development career who has shown exceptional promise, initiative, and leadership in their work.
Cyndie Mitchell has proven herself to be a valuable asset to the Lac du Bonnet community. With her extensive business and marketing experience, she has spearheaded over 25 programs and major initiatives in the community, including:
- The first VORR approved in Canada in 30 years to improve safety on the Lee River
- Implementation of successful marketing campaigns to attract new businesses to the area
- Organizing the Lee River Winter Trail
- Creation of the Annual Great Outdoors Expo & Market
- Working with local businesses and non-profits to improve their operations by providing tools and resources, creating a low-cost website development program
- The creation of the MyLdB brand to promote tourism in the area

She has also been instrumental in creating partnerships between local businesses and community organizations to help foster economic growth and development. Her excellent project management and organizational skills have ensured the success of these initiatives, contributing to the overall growth and improvement of the community.
In response to her nomination, Cyndie Mitchell said, “I think this nomination is a tip of the hat to our whole team at the Lac du Bonnet CDC. There are a lot of talented individuals on the board who have made, and continue to make, significant contributions to the projects and successes the CDC has had over the past two years.”
The EDAM Rising Star Award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and leadership in the field of economic development. One other finalist was named by EDAM, Monique Chenier, Economic Development & Tourism Manager for Sunrise Corner. “I’ve known Monique for many years, and I have had the pleasure of working with her. She is amazing. She’s talented, and she’s doing incredible things in Sunrise Corner. It’s a special thing to be named as a finalist alongside her.” Mitchell said.
The Lac du Bonnet CDC is proud to have Cyndie Mitchell as a member of their team and wishes her the best of luck in the selection process for this esteemed award being presented at the 7th Annual Manitoba Economic Development Awards on May 11, 2023.
