Seniors DInner Kitchen Clean-up Crew

PURPOSE OF THE VOLUNTEER POSITION

You will be relieving a tired crew of volunteers that have been preparing and serving food for approximately 8 hours. Your presence will be a welcome sight for a group of very tired eyes. The clean-up is critical and needs to be done properly with fresh energy. You will be welcomed into the kitchen as royalty ūüėé

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES OF THE POSITION

Kitchen clean-up requires that all cooking and serving utensils & vessels be rinsed, washed and dried according to provincial health regulations. While there is a dishwasher on the premises, there are many large pots and warming trays that need to be done by hand in the commercial sinks. The sinks are deep so come bending is required. The pots and trays are fairly standard so heavy lifting shouldn’t be a concern. Note: Plates, cups and cutlery used by the approximate 400 dinner attendees are disposable. Only the food prep & serving items require washing.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND AGE REQUIREMENTS

There are no age restrictions but volunteers should be over 4’6″ tall due to the deep sinks.

TRAINING AND TOOLS PROVIDED

Health regulations will be provided that define temperatures and cleaning liquid-to-water ratios. Kitchen gloves (small, med & large) are available. Direction will be provided on where cleaned items are to be stored.
