Event organizers, community gems, tourism operators, and tourism supporters can meet to connect with like-minded people, share their latest news and collaborate on projects.

On November 15, 2022, we’ll be getting together with a special guest, Shannon Fontaine, Chief Executive Officer of MTEC. During this session, Shannon will talk about how MTEC has assisted the Tourism industry in Manitoba over the past 30-plus years and how it had to change in order to assist the industry during a pandemic; a pandemic that negatively impacted the tourism industry more than any other industry in Canada.

There will also be suggestions of ways businesses can change without losing who they are and why they started. There will be talks about how to know when a business should expand or reduce its services, the importance of timing and knowing when it might be better to close a business, and the wisdom it takes to make that decision.

Forum Agenda:

  1. Welcome and Brief Introductions
  2. Presentation: Shannon Fontaine of MTEC – How to Remain Viable in Changing Times
  3. Roundtable Discussions: What is New and Notable in your Organization? Share your projects with us and seek support or find ways to collaborate with the group!

About MTEC

The Manitoba Tourism Education Council (MTEC) was established in 1989 as a not-for-profit corporation that receives provincial funding to assist the tourism industry in Manitoba in remaining viable through training their owners, managers, supervisors and employees. MTEC has worked with thousands of tourism professionals throughout the province. Each year MTEC trains roughly 11,000 individuals online, at the training centre in Winnipeg and at group sessions across the province.

The Mission of the Manitoba Tourism Education Council is to enhance the performance and ensure the sustainability of Manitoba’s tourism and hospitality industry by delivering relevant training and human resource development.

About the LdB Tourism Cafe

The LDB Tourism Cafe is an open forum where you can share the things you have accomplished, projects you are working on, areas where a project may be stalled, and ways we can all work together to support all the fantastic things that make Lac du Bonnet so unique.

The Tourism Cafe is not being designed as another committee. People from your Organization are invited to join as their schedule allows them to participate in these group discussions. Each session will begin with a different topic designed to help your organization build its partnerships, knowledge, or ideas and end with a Round Table session intended to share and identify collaboration opportunities.
